Current Entry-Level NSW Government Jobs: Grades 1/2 and 3/4

Entry-Level Nsw Jobs, Team 3Thirty NSW Government shortlist
In this guide

Last updated: 31 August 2026

Entry-level NSW Government jobs can lead into courts, corrections, schools, health, Treasury and project teams. The roles below suit different starting points, so begin with the work you can already prove you have done well.

Customer service and accurate records matter for the Registry Officer and sentence management roles. The school technology position needs practical troubleshooting and patient communication. Treasury’s Associate Economist program suits graduates who can analyse information and explain their reasoning, while the health roles have qualification or registration requirements that need to be checked first.

All eight roles were open when checked on 31 August 2026 and close between 8 and 16 September. Each role links to a full Application Checklist with the documents, questions and examples to prepare.

Compare these entry-level roles

What the entry-level NSW Government market tells applicants

Across three months of NSW Government advertising, 2,454 roles stated Grade 1/2 or 3/4 or carried a salary that matched those ranges with reasonable confidence. Health supplied most of these roles, including nursing, allied health and administration jobs. Salary can widen your search, while the eligibility section tells you whether your qualifications and experience fit the work.

Outside Health and Education, Communities and Justice was the largest source of roles in these salary ranges. Common opportunities included administrative assistant, customer service, registry, ranger, correctional and field officer work. Search by the work you want to do as well as the grade printed in the advertisement.

About 52 per cent of the broader matched group was advertised outside Greater Sydney. Regional applicants can find a strong spread of entry-level and early-career work, although the job title and award often look different from a standard Clerk Grade vacancy.

Choose the entry pathway that matches evidence you already have

The Registry Officer and Sentence Management Operations Officer are strongest for applicants who can prove accuracy, confidentiality, customer service and consistent use of procedures. The Assistant Project Officer needs stronger evidence of document control, procurement support, budgets and keeping a project team organised. For the school technology role, a troubleshooting example should show how you diagnosed the issue, kept the user informed and restored service without losing track of security or competing priorities.

Clinical and technical health positions should be assessed through eligibility first. The Pharmacy Assistant or Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician and Trainee Vascular Sonographer roles have qualification, registration or vaccination conditions that can decide whether an application proceeds. The Associate Economist sits on a different pathway and rewards clear analysis, written reasoning and evidence that the applicant can learn quickly in a policy environment.

Build an entry-level example around responsibility and result

A useful entry-level example can come from paid work, study, volunteering or a placement. Give the panel enough context to understand the service, record, customer or deadline you were responsible for. Explain the checks you completed, the judgement you used and what happened because you handled the task well.

For example, replace a broad claim about being organised with a short account of a busy shift or project deadline. Show how you sorted urgent work, confirmed the required information, kept another person updated and completed the task accurately. The result could be a resolved enquiry, a corrected record, a restored system or a submission delivered on time.
