NSW Government policy, project and program ads can look similar until you get to the application instructions. That is where the real difference shows up.
Some of these roles need a short cover letter and resume. Others need targeted questions, stronger project delivery evidence, or a sharper explanation of how your policy, governance, reporting or stakeholder work fits the role. This shortlist is designed to help you compare the roles quickly before you decide where to spend your application time.
Do not apply for every role with the same material. Use this page to decide which jobs are the best fit, then tailor your examples to the role type and application instructions.
If you want help with one priority role, request application support here. If you are applying across several roles, review the Shortlist Plan.

How to choose which role to apply for
If you are earlier in your policy career, the Assistant Analyst and Assistant Policy Officer roles may give you the clearest fit. If you already have stronger reform, program or delivery evidence, the Scheme Design Advisor, Senior Policy Officer, Senior Program Officer and project roles may give you more room to show judgement and outcomes.
The trap is applying for all of them with the same material. A policy application should make your analysis and advice clear. A project application should make your delivery environment clear. A program or regulatory role should show structure, governance and judgement. Use the role description to decide which examples belong in each application before you start writing.
