Choose the commercial work that fits your experience

Procurement experience can lead to quite different jobs across NSW Government. The current roles below range from keeping purchasing and facilities services running at NSW Health to negotiating land acquisitions and managing major light rail contracts. Review the responsibilities alongside the application task to decide where your experience fits.

Your recent work will help narrow the list. Someone who supports purchase orders and service providers could start with the Assistant Procurement and Facilities Officer role. An ICT sourcing specialist has a more direct match in DCJ’s Senior Category Specialist position, while a commercial manager handling claims and variations should examine the Light Rail Contracts role. The land roles need their own statutory and acquisition evidence, even when your negotiation experience is strong.

Every role below links to the official advertisement and a Team 3Thirty Application Checklist. Start with the roles where you can show clear examples of judgement, stakeholder advice, negotiation, governance and measurable commercial outcomes.

If you want hands-on support with a live role, you can request help with your application.

An ICT procurement role supporting the technology used across NSW Health. The work includes sourcing projects, evaluation documents, category management and procurement records. Show how you balance customer needs, sound analysis and probity while moving a purchasing decision forward.

Application requirements

Cover letter and current resume, maximum five pages for the resume. No cover-letter page limit is specified.

What to highlight

Sourcing and evaluation, procurement documentation, governance, analytical judgment and customer or supplier relationships.

How to choose where to apply

Start by matching the role’s operating environment to work you have already done. Procurement support and facilities experience points towards the assistant role. Strategic sourcing, supplier and ICT evidence fits the category positions. Construction procurement and infrastructure contracts align more closely with NSW Public Works and Homes NSW, while property, legal, planning and valuation experience is useful for the land-acquisition roles.

Then compare the writing task with the time you have available. A two-page cover letter needs a tight evidence plan. Selection criteria and targeted questions need distinct examples that answer the wording directly. For roles where the public listing does not state the full document task, open the application portal early and confirm every required field before you begin drafting.

Make the commercial decision visible in your example

For the Senior Procurement Advisor application, both written answers must fit within one page. The first asks about a construction contract dispute. If your example involves a contractor claiming for additional work, explain the claim, the contract provisions you checked and the records you used to assess it. Then show how you developed your advice or negotiated a resolution, including the outcome for cost or delivery. Use your own verified details and make clear which decisions were yours.

The second question asks how you captured and shared lessons from a construction project. Explain what you changed after the issue, such as an approval step or a contract record, and how you helped colleagues use that change. Planning these answers together will help you give each enough space within the combined limit.
