Current NSW Government Policy and Project Officer Jobs

In this guide

Last checked: 11 September 2026. Nine current roles.

Planning a night-time precinct and improving alcohol and other drugs services call for different policy experience. This current selection includes the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, NSW Health’s clinical-governance team and roles working on digital reform, law enforcement and settlement policy.

Applications close between 13 and 23 September 2026. Start with the work you can support through a convincing example, then open the free checklist to check the documents and questions. The night-time economy and digital-policy vacancies close in the morning, so allow for their exact times.

Choose the policy setting you can explain

Value NSW puts legislation and regulatory analysis at the centre of its work, while DPHI’s environmental planning role requires a relevant degree. Applicants with experience of service reform and community consultation can compare Multicultural NSW’s Settlement team with the health-policy role.

Applicants with financial-policy experience can also consider Education’s capital-budget role, which asks for a 300-word example of working with financial systems and data. Look at the application effort as well as the subject. NSW Police asks for two separate 500-word responses. The Ministry of Health places two targeted responses within a compact cover letter, and several other roles require a resume and a cover letter with no targeted questions listed.

How To Do Well In The Application

Take one example beyond “I researched and consulted”. Explain the issue, the evidence you weighed, the options you considered, the advice you gave and what happened next. That is what helps a panel see your judgement.

Choose an example that matches the role’s balance of policy, projects and implementation, then follow the cover-letter and targeted-question instructions exactly. Our plain-English recruitment guide explains the wider recruitment process.
