Weekly Shortlist: Non‑Teaching roles in Education

Each week we scan the iWorkForNSW job board to find the most compelling roles across the public sector. This edition showcases a collection of non‑teaching opportunities within education—roles where private sector skills can bring fresh thinking and help shape the future of schools and learning.

Education attracts a large number of applicants, many of whom are current teachers or school‑based staff. Their knowledge of the system is valuable, but candidates from outside schools add specialised experience in operations, projects, technology and governance. If you’ve ever wondered how to translate your corporate expertise into the education portfolio, these roles are a great place to start.

To apply for roles in the Department of Education you’ll often be asked to respond to selection criteria. That may feel old‑fashioned, but it’s also a chance to showcase your achievements. If you’re new to this approach, our guide to NSW Department of Education selection criteria features nine clear examples of how to structure your responses.
