Dubbo gives you several directions for a government career search. Patient care is one, but the city's advertised work options also span transport, justice, emergency services and Taronga. If you have experience in administration, project delivery or supporting customers, explore the function within those employers. The agency name is only the first clue to the work you would do.
From 1 July to 30 September 2026, Team 3Thirty's I Work for NSW records captured 415 ads offering a Dubbo work option. That was 2.2% of the 18,867 NSW ads captured across the same period. The opportunities include jobs that have since closed. Use the snapshot to choose employers and search terms, then check official boards for live vacancies.
Explore the employers beyond one sector
Western NSW Local Health District had the largest employer total in these records. Transport for NSW, Communities and Justice and the Rural Fire Service also advertised local options. Taronga and education appeared too. That range is useful if you want to stay open to different organisations while keeping a clear idea of the work you enjoy.
| Employer or business unit | Ads |
|---|---|
| Western NSW Local Health District | 183 |
| Transport for NSW | 34 |
| Department of Communities and Justice | 29 |
| NSW Rural Fire Service | 27 |
| Taronga Conservation Society Australia | 14 |
| Department of Education | 9 |
| Crown Lands and Public Spaces | 8 |
Different employers can use similar titles for different work. A project officer in a health service may deal with different systems, stakeholders and constraints from one in transport. An emergency-services employer can advertise corporate or support work as well as operational roles. Read the responsibilities and essential requirements before deciding how your background fits.
Search for work you can demonstrate
Nursing, medical training and administration or support titles appeared frequently. Project and program titles give another search direction for people who coordinate delivery, manage information or work through competing priorities. Legal and casework roles appear in the records too, with eligibility and responsibilities that need individual attention.
| Words appearing in job titles | Ads |
|---|---|
| Nurse, nursing, midwife or midwifery | 54 |
| Administration, support or service officer | 51 |
| Trainee, fellow, intern or resident medical | 50 |
| Project, program or portfolio | 34 |
| Psychology and allied health titles | 25 |
| Legal, solicitor, court or casework | 24 |
A support title can cover a specialist system or service. Check whether your evidence shows the actual function. Medical trainees and fellows have profession-specific pathways, with their own training requirements. Qualifications and registrations remain part of the decision.
Suppose your experience involves scheduling work across teams and keeping records accurate. Compare an administration role and a project-support role by looking at who makes decisions, what risks are involved and what the successful applicant must deliver. The government resume-skills guide can help you explain a relevant example without inflating your responsibility.
Read past the Dubbo and Western NSW label
A broad location category can include workplaces a long way from Dubbo. A role may refer to the city as part of a service catchment, name a contact based there or offer it as one of several offices. Those references mean different things for your working week. Find the ordinary workplace and any travel requirements in the description.
This guide counts supported Dubbo work options. Wellington, Mudgee, Parkes and other centres can be separate searches if they suit your plans. For multi-location ads, check that Dubbo is an available workplace for the position you want. Keep any roster, clinical rotation or regional travel requirement alongside that decision.
Turn the search into a practical application choice
Start with I Work for NSW and NSW Health recruitment for current state roles. Check council recruitment and APS Jobs separately; those vacancies are outside the figures here. Save a few roles with a plausible workplace and function before investing in application documents.
For each role, compare essential requirements, employment term, salary wording and the evidence requested. Find an example in which you performed the central task or made a comparable decision. A clear connection between your experience and the work will help you choose where to spend time. Use the government cover-letter examples guide once you know which requirements your application needs to answer.

We used Team 3Thirty's captured I Work for NSW records for 1 July to 30 September 2026. Dubbo counts when an ad offered a normal workplace, work rotation or office option in the city. The figures count distinct ads, which can offer several vacancies or offices; historical coverage is limited to captured records. Nearby towns and broad regional mentions without a supported Dubbo workplace are excluded. Role groups use words in titles and can overlap.
