14 Current NSW Government Trade and Field Roles

NSW Government trade and field roles shortlist banner with a worker at an infrastructure site
In this guide

Updated 21 October 2026.

Our current trade and field roles include catchment biosecurity and bushfire work, correctional-centre trades, hospital electrical maintenance and park operations. Compare the work setting, qualifications and roster before choosing an application.

Choose the work you can prove

Choose an example that shows safe practical work and sound judgement. Trade roles need accurate qualification and licence evidence; field roles may also require bushfire, biosecurity or land-management experience. Explain the equipment, hazards and people you were responsible for.

Build a specific application example

A duty list such as ‘maintained equipment’ gives the panel little to assess. Pick one fault, repair or field task and explain the checks you made, the hazard you controlled, how you coordinated with people using the site, and the condition of the equipment or area at handover. A hospital electrician could show how an urgent fault was resolved while protecting patient services; a grader operator could explain how they achieved the required pavement tolerances. Match your own evidence to the advert’s questions.
