Current NSW Government Grade 7/8 Jobs

Grade 7/8 Jobs, Team 3Thirty NSW Government shortlist
In this guide

Last updated: 31 August 2026

Grade 7/8 roles put you close to decisions and delivery problems. The current shortlist includes strategic intelligence, regional coordination, emergency preparedness, clinical governance, events, budgets and forensic services.

The job titles differ, although the panel will keep looking for sound judgement. Your examples need to show how you worked through incomplete information, influenced people with different priorities and kept an important piece of work moving.

All eight roles were open when checked on 31 August 2026 and close between 7 and 20 September. Every vacancy in this shortlist asks for a CV and cover letter, with several also requiring targeted responses.

What the Grade 7/8 market tells applicants

The expanded comparison found 2,662 advertisements that stated Grade 7/8 or carried a salary close to that range with reasonable confidence. Health and Education produced many of these vacancies through professional and school-based classifications, so applicants need to check the award and eligibility as closely as the salary.

Another 520 roles in the broader salary-matched group came from other NSW Government agencies. Project Officer was the most repeated general title, with business analyst, policy officer, executive assistant, operational and project management roles also appearing.

About two-thirds of the matched roles outside Health and Education were based in Greater Sydney. Statewide and regional jobs still appeared in project delivery, operations and specialist services, and a location filter can help you find them before the larger Sydney results take over the search page.

Choose the decision or delivery problem you can own

Senior Strategic Intelligence Analyst and Budget Analyst need strong analysis, careful interpretation and concise advice for decision-makers. Regional Coordination Officer and Joint Management Officer depend more heavily on long-term stakeholder relationships, place-based delivery and work across organisational boundaries.

Project Officer and Policy Officer combine coordination with written advice in community-emergency and clinical-governance settings. The Venue Services and Events position adds commercial operations, high booking volume and live-event risk. Principal Forensic Officer calls for accuracy with complex and sensitive information in a legal and health environment.

Explain your judgement as well as your output

At Grade 7/8, the panel needs to understand how you reached a decision or kept delivery on course. Choose an example with ambiguity, multiple stakeholders or an operational risk. Explain what you analysed, which constraint mattered, how you influenced the people involved and what changed because of your work.

A briefing example gains weight when the reader can see how you tested the information and tailored the advice for the decision-maker. A project example should show the milestone or risk you owned, the intervention you made and the measurable effect on timing, quality, cost or community outcome.
